De-Geek Yourself in Tadoussac

What is Tadoussac? Well, the right question is rather “Where is Tadoussac?” It’s a small town of barely 1,000 people located in northern Quebec on the north shore of the St. Lawrence river, about 3.5 hours from the capital.  If you come from the south, the ferry opens the gates of the city for you and you journey into a world of pristine wilderness covered in mantle of snow, which offers a glorious, virginal look…

Situated at the confluence of the St. Lawrence and Saguenay rivers, which is the main tourist attraction of this charming village. It is here where warm and cold currents meet along with salty and fresh water. These two bodies of water are key for the proliferation of plankton and where there are plankton, there are whales!
I came here for the first time back in September of 2005 and fell in love with the charm of this little village, and especially its youth hostel. I promised myself then to return one day, and voilà! I’ve done it!

I cannot begin to describe the atmosphere of the hostel. What I can tell you that it feels like a big family, something I’ve never experienced anywhere else.
Sure, there are many French there, which helps a Frenchman like me feel at home away from home, but th tone is set by the guys who work there: Andrew Coco and all the others. Integration guaranteed!

Want to have an adventure in the great outdoors of Northern Quebec? For hiking during the summer, snowmobiling or dog-sledding in the winter, Tadoussac c’est vraiment l’endroit parfait !

And if you don’t want to de-geek completely, there’s free wifi in the common room. ^_^
